THE PROTAGONIST’S PERSONALITY IN PIDI BAIQ’S NOVEL DILAN DIA ADALAH DILANKU

Literary psychology gives an important role to the analysis of psychological development characterization in literary works. In psychology, conflict is upheaval among id, ego, and superego. This study aims describe protagonist’s personality, focused on superego novel Dilan Dia Adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990 by Pidi Baiq's. Personality characteristic patterns thoughts, feelings, behaviors that make a person unique. It believed personality arises from within individual remains fairly consistent throughout life. Freud's psychoanalytic theory, id primitive instinctual part mind contains sexual aggressive drives hidden memories, super-ego operates as moral conscience, ego realistic mediates between desires super-ego. The research done descriptive qualitative method collecting selecting data novel. additional sources are taken respective references. results show three parts personality: found protagonist elements psychic or dominated ego.
